(Δ-9-THC) is a cannabinoid molecule found in marijuana (cannabis) that is known to be the main psychoactive ingredient, meaning it is the substance that causes people who use marijuana to feel high. The law prohibits products that contain more than a trace amount of Δ-9-THC. However, this does not take into account the range of psychoactive compounds that can be extracted or produced from hemp.Cannabis smokers often report using the drug to relax or reduce emotional stress, yet few clinical studies have proven that cannabis or cannabinoid agonists can reduce stress. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a major active component of cannabis, on emotional responses to an acute psychosocial stress factor in healthy young adults.
